After earning a BFA in Studio Art, Susan worked as a visual artist, teaching artist, art handler, and as a curatorial assistant at the Indianapolis Museum of Art. Relocating to Big Sur, California enhanced her love of nature, enriched her art and writing abilities, and nurtured her enthusiasm for architecture and design. “Working and staying among such beautiful spaces designed by Rowen Maiden—a student of Frank Lloyd Wright, and renowned organic architect Mickey Muennig left a lasting impression on me,” says Susan, who also credits a Big Sur writing group foundational to her pursuit of the artform as a career.
Susan is a published poet, an award-winning journalist, and an acclaimed content writer. She has contributed to publications including Indianapolis Monthly, Atlas Obscura, and Hunker, and written for brands such as Morning Save and LuAnn Nigara, Inc.
With a belief that stories are powerful and words have the ability to educate, inspire, and initiate positive change, Susan founded Cloud Top Creative to help businesses tell impactful, honest stories that shape brand identity and engage audiences. “I understand that every space tells a story and that a picture can speak volumes,” she says, adding, “While an image captures the essence of your work, carefully woven words will bring these narratives to life.”
Susan specializes in luxury interior design and architectural firms, as well as established AEC industry brands. Currently based in her hometown of Indianapolis, Indiana, Susan partners with purpose-driven businesses across the country, extending a personalized approach and crafting tailored services specific to each client’s individual needs.
